EUR Euro
The euro (EUR, symbol €) is the world’s second most important reserve currency after the US dollar and one of the most traded currencies on global markets. It was introduced for non-cash transactions in 1999 and for cash circulation in 2002. The euro is the official currency of the European Union and is used in 20 eurozone countries under the management of the ECB. In addition, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City use the euro through special monetary agreements with the EU and are allowed to mint their own coins. Montenegro and Kosovo adopted the euro unilaterally, without official agreements or participation in monetary policy.
