Cookies and Similar Technologies Policy

Last updated: November 28, 2025

This Cookies and Similar Technologies Policy (“Cookie Policy”) explains how MoneyConvert.net (“we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on MoneyConvert.net (the “Site”).

This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Where cookies or similar technologies involve the processing of personal data, our Privacy Policy explains how we use and protect that data.

By using the Site, and where required by law by accepting cookies in our banner or settings, you agree that we may use cookies and similar technologies as described in this Cookie Policy. In the EU/EEA, UK and Ukraine we will not set non-essential cookies unless you have given consent.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

  • Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website.
  • Similar technologies include local and session storage, tracking pixels, web beacons, tags, scripts, software development kits (SDKs) and device identifiers.

In this Cookie Policy, we refer to all of these as “cookies”, unless we need to distinguish between them.

2. What cookies do we use and why?

Because the Site provides reference currency information (indicative FX rates, charts, analytics), we use cookies for four main purposes:

  1. Strictly necessary – to make the Site work securely and reliably (for example, security, load balancing, cookie preference storage).
  2. Analytics and performance – to understand how visitors use the Site (for example, which pages are most used, where users come from) so we can improve it.
  3. Advertising and marketing – to measure and improve the performance of our own advertising and AdSense ads, including limiting ad frequency and measuring conversions.
  4. Functionality – to remember choices such as language, preferred currencies, and display settings.

We also use Cloudflare to host and protect the Site. Cloudflare may set certain security and performance cookies on our behalf. In addition, we use a Cloudflare performance measurement script (for example, via speed.cloudflare.com). That script uses a lightweight beacon and does not use cookies or local storage to collect usage metrics, but we treat it as part of our analytics stack.

  • In the EU/EEA, UK and Ukraine, we use strictly necessary cookies based on our legitimate interests or to provide a service you request. For all other cookies (analytics, advertising, functionality) we rely on your consent, collected via our cookie banner and settings tool.
  • In some U.S. states, certain advertising and analytics cookies may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or as “targeted advertising”. Where required, we provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” (or equivalent) mechanism and honor valid browser-based opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) for those purposes. 4. Categories of cookies we use

4.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation and security of the Site and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as:

  • Moving between pages;
  • Setting or remembering your cookie choices;
  • Protecting the Site against bots and malicious traffic;
  • Ensuring traffic is routed efficiently.

If you block these cookies, parts of the Site may not work correctly.

Examples include our own session and consent cookies and certain Cloudflare security cookies (see table below).

4.2 Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies help us understand how the Site is used:

  • We use Google Analytics (GA4) to distinguish users and sessions, count visits, and see how visitors move through the Site.
  • We may also use Cloudflare measurement scripts that do not rely on cookies but still collect anonymized performance metrics via a beacon.

In regions where consent is required, these cookies (or equivalent technologies) are only used if you enable analytics in our cookie settings.

4.3 Advertising and marketing cookies

We use Google AdSense and related Google Ads technologies to display and measure ads:

  • To avoid showing you the same ad too often;
  • To understand which ads and traffic sources are effective;
  • In some regions, to show more relevant advertising based on your interactions.

These cookies are not strictly necessary and are only used with your consent in regions where law requires it. They may also be subject to additional opt-out rights under U.S. state privacy laws.

4.4 Functionality cookies

These cookies are used to remember:

  • Your language and locale;
  • Your preferred base and quote currencies;
  • Certain calculator or chart settings (for example, number of decimals).

If you disable these cookies, the Site will still work, but some features may be less convenient.

Our cookie banner and settings tool are designed to reflect the most up-to-date list of cookies by category.

6. How can you control cookies?

You have several options:

  1. Cookie banner and settings

    • On your first visit (and periodically later) you will see a cookie banner.
    • You can: accept all, reject non-essential, or customize categories (for example, analytics, advertising).
    • You can change your choices at any time via the “Cookie settings” link (for example, in the footer of the Site).
  2. Browser settings Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies. You can usually:

    • Block third-party cookies;
    • Block all cookies;
    • Delete cookies when you close your browser. If you block all cookies, the Site may not function properly.
  3. Mobile settings and advertising identifiers On mobile devices, your operating system may let you limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier. Please check your device settings.

  4. Do Not Track (DNT) and Global Privacy Control (GPC)

    • There is no single standard for interpreting DNT signals, so we currently do not respond to DNT.
    • Where required by law, we treat valid GPC or similar signals as an opt-out of “sale”, “sharing”, or targeted advertising and adjust our use of advertising cookies accordingly.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time (for example, if we add new services or if laws change). The “Last updated” date at the top indicates the latest version.

If we make material changes, we will take appropriate steps to inform you, such as displaying a notice on the Site or updating our cookie banner.
